AKTIV Against Cancer works to ensure physical activity will become an integral part of cancer treatment. AKTIV Against Cancer has opened 16 physical activity centers called Pusterommet ("Breathing Room") in cancer treatment hospitals throughout the country. Breathing Rooms provide a space where cancer patients exercise under the expert guidance of instructors trained in physical fitness and cancer. These spaces also provide friendly, social environments as a respite from the challenges of life during cancer treatment. Additionally, AKTIV Against Cancer has invested in research focused on exercise and cancer with the goal of having physical activity included as part of standard cancer treatment.
